England Football Star LookaLikes Are Top Party Attractions As World Cup Fever Hots Up

As anticipation grows for the World Cup in Germany this June, lookalike agencies are experiencing a surge of bookings for England star impersonators – and demand is so high that agencies are urgently recruiting for more look-a-likes.

Jon Stebbings, Sales and Marketing Director of, an online events services directory says: “Our members knew this would be a busy time for Beckham, Owen and Rooney lookalikes particularly. There are a lot of football themed adverts going out this summer and it was always expected that the footballer lookalikes would get a lot of work around this time.”

“When we surveyed our members they told us that demand for other appearances is much higher than they anticipated. They are getting a lot of calls from businesses who are hosting World Cup themed events over the summer and want look-a-likes to mingle with the guests for an added buzz.”

“One obvious reason is that the fees of millionaire footballers are out of most people’s reach – so this is the next best thing.”

David Beckham imitators have long been among the most popular celebrity lookalikes, but now other star members of the England squad are being requested in larger numbers.

While Wayne Rooney may not be as photogenic as the England captain, that is not discouraging young men from claiming a resemblance to the Manchester United forward. One of the biggest growth areas for the lookalike agencies is the demand for Wayne Rooney doubles.

Other England players with growing bands of imitators for hire are Frank Lampard, John Terry, Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole.

Both Michael Owen and Ashley Cole have struggled with injuries this season, but these problems are not reflected in the number of bookings their lookalikes are getting. Both players have missed much of this season and are working hard to establish their first team places in the England squad in time for the World Cup – but their status as England icons mean their lookalikes are still very much in demand.

It isn’t just player lookalikes that are popular as World Cup fever gathers pace. The announcement that Sven Goran Eriksson’s tenure as England Manager will end soon after the tournament will leave the dozens of Sven look-a-likes searching for new employment this summer – unless he keeps up a high profile in the UK by taking a job with an English team.

Eriksson is frequently requested alongside his on-off partner Nancy del’Ollio, however, the Beckhams are the most requested ‘fake celebrity couple’ by far.

Jon says: “Victoria Beckham and Nancy are great subjects for lookalike artists as they are so colourful and distinctive, with just a few props they are instantly recognisable.”

Party Offers Ltd is a resource for anybody organising an event – from a small party for a few close friends, up to a festival for over 1000 attendees.

Jon added: “Although we cover the whole of the UK – as you might expect, we haven’t had quite the same findings from the agencies on the directory in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland!”

At there are 300 different categories covering a vast array of entertainers, traditional event services, all kinds of wedding suppliers, venues from A to Z and the most enticing mix of European and ethnic caterers on the web.
