Bebo to Speak at WebCertain’s International Social Media Summit

Social networking platform, Bebo, which recently announced its expansion into Europe, will be one of the speakers at WebCertain’s International Search Summit in May which will focus on the increasing importance of social media for international marketers.

Nicole Vanderbilt, VP International at Bebo, will be looking at the international marketing opportunity for social networks. She will be discussing Bebo’s recent expansion into new markets and languages, explaining why they have chosen those markets and the opportunities that exist for marketers through social networks. This week AOL-owned Bebo announced the launch of five new European-language versions of its social network; it will be available in French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch. The move marks an important step in the company’s expansion into new markets outside the English-speaking world.

Other topics at the summit include the growth of Twitter and its marketing applications; as well as blogger Martin Belam of guardian.co.uk looking at how major publishers are using social media to drive traffic; and Tom Smith of Trendstream discussing global social media trends. The International Search Summit is being hosted by leading UK multilingual search agency, WebCertain, and will take place on 14th May at the British Library, London. It is the fourth summit held by WebCertain, all of which focus on multilingual search marketing. Their purpose is to address the complex issues that face online marketers when dealing with content that crosses multiple countries, cultures and languages. The most recent summit which took place on 13th March in Oslo was the first to be held in Scandinavia and proved very popular.

“The continued growth of social media is phenomenal and offers some unique opportunities for marketers who are able to respond quickly to this fast-moving sector. The aim of our next summit is to bring together the leading authorities on social media from around the globe in order to give online marketers an insight into the very latest developments and the chance to capitalise on them,” commented Andy Atkins-Krüger,
