Holiday spending doubles over a decade

Tags:Britons spend over 50% more on holidays than they did at the start of the Millennium, according to a new survey.

The average household is forecast to spend Â£1,801 0n travel at home and abroad in 2007, this is 52.6% more than was spent in 2001.

As well as spending more money booking holidays, people also spend more while they are away.

Londoners spend the most money on holidays, whereas bargain holidays are more likely to be purchased in the North-East, where the least money has been spent on holidays over the last decade.
