Magazine travel experts vote for the world’s most beautiful beach

Tags:After travelling all around six continents across the world, a group of travel experts have named Oxwich Bay on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales as the most beautiful beach in Britain - and one of the best in the world.

The survey was undertaken on behalf of The Travel Magazine who chose seventeen lucky travellers to judge beaches in holiday destinations around the world, including The Caribbean, Mexico and India.

Over a year The Travel Magazine team took holidays in Mykonos, flights to Australia and the Philippines, before they made their choices, finally deciding that the South Wales beach which is popular with swimmers and windsurfers was the best beach in the UK.

When compiling the list of winners, the judges also stated the best month of the year to have a beach holiday in each destination.

The best beaches in the world as decided by The Travel Magazine are:

2 (February) EnseÃ±ada Grande, Isla Espiritu Santo, Sea of Cortez, Baja California, Mexico
3 (March) Kovalam Beach, Kerala, India
4 (April) White Island, Camiguin, The Philippines
5 (May) Praia da Lopes Mendes, Ilha Grande, Brazil
6 (June) Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Islands, Queensland, Australia
7 (July) Oxwich Bay, Gower, South Wales
8 (August) Guludo Beach, Quirimbas Peninsula, Mozambique
9 (September) Super Paradise Beach, Mykonos, Greece
10 (October) Eilat, Israel
11 (November) One Foot Island, Aitutaki Lagoon, Cook Islands
12 (December) Playa Flamenco, Culebra, Puerto Rico
